Yes, it would be. But what does that have to do with the Asian prostitutes in the tourist districts of places like Bangkok? Anyone who has been to Patpong or Soi Nana (Bangkok) know the women are free to come and go as they please. Nobody forces or coerces them to have sex with anyone. None of the prostitutes in the tourist districts in Thailand or the Philippines have pimps. Go to Thermae on Sukumvit and you’ll see the women have no "bosses" who get paid, there are no pimps and all the women freely choose their customers. You are confusing the Thai brothels where local Thai men go with the red light districts where tourists go. I’ll grant that in many of the local Thai brothels (where tourists rarely go), the prostitutes are coerced or pushed against their will to have sex with clients. The families sell out their kids and the pimps make a fortune off of it. Such acts are repulsive. But that is NOT the scene in the tourists districts. If it were, I could never condone such activity and I think sex tourism in Thailand would die out in a day. In the tourist districts the prostitutes are completely free to come and go as they please and nobody forces them to have sex with anyone. Anyone who has been to Soi Nana or Patpong or Thermae know the prostitutes choose their occupation out of free choice. In fact, if you go to Patpong, the first question a prostitute will ask a tourist is, "How much you pay me?" If the tourist refuses the amount *she* demands, she’ll dump the guy immediately and move on to another tourist who will meet her high wages. And believe me, these prostitutes earn quite a living. Maybe to you $60 in a hour or two is not much, but to a Thai, it’s a fortune. The smiling Asian girls in question are unfortunately not in the position that we are.

Again, it depends of which type of prostitute you are referring to. The Asian women who work in Patpong or any of the other tourist red light districts are completely free to come and go as they please and are never forced to entertain anyone they don’t like. And these girls, as I already said, make a lot of money. Even CAPCAT leader Sean Parlaman admitted his prostitute girlfriend earned $1,500 per week. That’s $6,000 per month or $72,000 per year, tax free, paid in cash! And that’s not even working full time! Now you tell me who’s being exploited: the maid in the U.S. who, on her hands and knees, cleans the toilet you shitted in at your hotel for under $5.00 an hour (minus taxes) and as a result can barely afford to pay rent in some sleazy apartment in the slums… or the prostitute in Thailand who earns up to $250 an hour for having sex with some of the most successful and prominent businessmen in the world, and with the money she earns, buys her family the dream house that only prostitutes and kings can afford? You see, you ignore the situation as it really exists and in doing so, distort reality. (We can simply say "No!" to our boss should he or she come with such a demand.)

That’s rediculous. If you are a hostess in a restaurant and your boss insists you greet each customer with a smile and you refuse, you will be out of a job. And possibly out on the streets if that job is what pays your rent. Therefore they are abused way beyond what should be accepted.

Who the hell told you the prostitutes in the tourist districts are being abused by the tourists? Would you please cite some documentation to substantiate this? I lived in Thailand for over 2 years, interviewed over 500 prostitutes and have never heard of even one incident of a tourist abusing a prostitute. Yes, I’ve heard of the prostitute exploiting the tourists, but as for tourists abusing the prostitutes – let’s see the evidence. The Western, as well as Asian, men taking advantage of these girls’ weak position are contributing to this abuse, and so are those promoting sex-trips to Asia.

Why is it that people who find prostitution offensive are generally people who never bothered to let the prostitutes express their own feelings on the subject? Interesting. When I change my website, I’ve "learned my lesson". But when you change your website, it’s "redesigned". Your wording gives you away. But I do apologize for it taking so long.  Until the Apple service center can get all of the water and sand knocked out of my PowerMacs, I have to use the university computer center, which limits my time.  I also work full time (raising money for non-profit organizations) and do my best to keep my 3.8 grade point average in my studies.

Last December, CAPCAT was exposed as frauds through various postings on their CAPCAT discussion group. As a result, the discussion group was closed to avoid the obvious embarrassment of being unable to answer the various postings that exposed them.

You had finally gotten a clue.  I was so proud of you. Apparently that was not good enough. The barrage of obscene posts which then hit the CAPCAT "Discussion Board" angered the CAPCAT webmaster, Pradit Pinyopasakul, and he restricted new board, who has to spend his at-work time to administer it, and he’s the one who canceled the post function.  Honestly, I didn’t agree with that decision, but then I wasn’t the one who had to spend my work time removing vulgar and juvenile messages from an electronic bulletin board.  New posts may be sent to the CAPCAT "Discussions Board" as e.mails.  Send them to CAPCAT volunteer Sean Parlaman tried to claim the discussion board was experiencing only a "momentary interruption" – that was over a month ago – rather than admit the truth they got caught with their pants down.

The only thing we got caught with is a flood, in Ashland, Oregon that is, where I was home on winter break and working on the redesign of the CAPCAT site, the "momentary interuption."  There was no Internet connection here between Jan. 1 and 13, and even if there was, I was too busy filling sand bags, cleaning out my own office and working as a volunteer guard at night for the local police to work on the redesign.
