get a watch. find a running track or measure the distance around the block with a scooter or so. then divide your time by the distance. say you run 2.1 miles in 15 minutes? – 15 min/2.1miles= a pace of 7.14 minutes/mile. (over 2.1 miles)
Response:
Hmm…i might be missing something, but running a mile and timing it might be a start. -jeff

Now, now, boys. Let’s assume he meant for a 5K or some uneven distance. Speed = Time / distance which has to be converted to minutes per mile. Say he ran a 5K in 27 minutes. S = 27 / 3.1 S = 8.7, which translates into about 8:42 minutes/mile. For times over an hour, be sure to use total minutes: ie 10 miles in 1 hr 30 mn: S = 90 / 10 S = 9 minute miles. A veritable font of wisdom. And to determine the number of seconds from the decimal you get in the end, you simply multiply it by 0.6 Sean Chester Vancouver Island, Canada – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hmm…i might be missing something, but running a mile and timing it might be a start. -jeff Nope, you’re not missing anything, you’re just the first one to write what most of us were thinking….
