chafing?

Categories: running shorts

Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello All! I have a new problem, chafing!  For some reason, my legs have been chafing this year.  They haven’t done this before, and no, I haven’t gained weight : )  .  My question is, do shorts like the desoto tri short and the rip n hammer tri short alleviate this problem?  The lubricants don’t seem to cut it – judging from my triathlon yesterday. Thanks again, Excuse me, but were we separated at birth?? I had just the same problem, but not at a race, during my last 2 runs.  during both, I got irritated skin, and during the last, yesterday’s 2 hour run, I was just about to chuck my shorts and run naked, it hurt so bad.  Hell, I got a reminder today when I put on my pants for work. Both of my shorts were running shorts. Should I bail out on them and only run in lycra? Or is something else the cause?

Rob: What was the weather?  I’ll chafe in cool weather and usually wear the tri shorts instead. Once it gets warm, I sweat enough to "lubricate", I guess. Sometimes I’ll swab a gob of vaseline on my thighs as insurance on those "tween" spring days. A lot of very happy owners expressed to me this weekend at wildflower that they loved the De Soto Sport Tri Short.  No Chafing.  Give ours a go.  If you do not like them we will refund your money.  Call or email me for a free catalog. Stay Fit, Emilio De Soto II

I’ve got a pair of Speedo tri shorts(ala Spencer Smith) that are unpadded & with legs just long enough to eliminate chafing.  Very nice, and just what the Dr. ordered.  I haven’t tried the sort with a thin cycling pad(DeSoto) but I use a QR seat cover and I think I’d prefer that over the wet diaper no matter how thin. I too have not gained weight, but I have trained harder, so maybe its my legs of steel. :-) Rob — Rob Blomquist aka TriDog Seattle, WA http://www2.jps.net/~robbo
