Just getting started?
Question:
Lately, I have noticed that it is harder to get my heart rate up and to keep it up. I started to add ankle weights (5 lbs) but that hasn’t changed much.
Do NOT wear ankle weights, unless you are fond of knee injuries. If you want a better workout, run faster or run further. Don’t worry about your heart rate. When can I expect to start losing more around the waist?
If you are losing one pound every 2 weeks, you are doing good. I know that sounds slow, but how long do you want to keep it off? And my feet need a good pair of shoes. I have been using an old pair of tennies I need somthing with good arch support.
Go to a store that sells real running shoes, and buy whatever feels most comfortable. #include "disclaimer.h" |____|
Response:
I have started to run about 6-8 months ago. I started because I wanted to lose weight and exercie my dogs. I wear a polar heart monitor to make sure I stay within my exercise heart rate, and I jog now, about 3 hour a week – about 15 minute twice a day. I didn’t start off at this amount of time. I first would go about 10-12 min. twice a day for 3 weeks and then quit for 4-5 weeks and then back at it for another 10-12 min twice a day and then off again. I realized that it is just as easy to jog the dogs as it is to walk them, so I have opted to continue to jog them. Recently I have checked my log and realized that normally I wold be in my off period but I haven’t. I am still jogging. Lately, I have noticed that it is harder to get my heart rate up and to keep it up. I started to add ankle weights (5 lbs) but that hasn’t changed much. I haven’t lost much in inches around the waist but I do find it easier and easier to take the jog. I even look forward to it. I think I am enjoying it more than my dogs. What I want to know is: Is this typical of new joggers to have problems getting their heart rate up? When can I expect to start losing more around the waist? And my feet need a good pair of shoes. I have been using an old pair of tennies I need somthing with good arch support.
