Question:
What constitutes sufficient time and/or mileage for a streak?
A streak? For many years I have used 30 minutes or 3 miles as a minimum "worth it to change clothes and head out the door." However, I have read of some that have multiple year streaks that consider two or even one mile jaunts as sufficient to mark the log.
It depends on how you feel that day and what your goals are. A lot of runners go two miles on a "light" day, especially if recovering from a high intensity workout the day before. I dunno about 1 mile. It sounds a little short to me, but it’s better than nothing. Also does/should time on a treadmill count as a run?
Yes. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -None of this amounts to much of anything as I will probably keep on doing it my way 30/3 but I was wondering what others might think about all this foolishness.

I count 2 and above because I can think of no time in my life that I ran shorter than that and had actually planned to run that short. Once I ran a mile during an ice storm but stopped because I kept falling down and didn’t count it. I know I sure wouldn’t count 30 minutes of "running" if I didn’t even cover 3 miles during this time. Also does/should time on a treadmill count as a run?
Maybe, but you’ve got to do a lot more than 2 miles. I’ve even counted pool runs if they’re over 30 minutes. None of this amounts to much of anything as I will probably keep on doing it my way 30/3 but I was wondering what others might think about all this foolishness.
Do it however you like and let us know when you’ve run 50 years without a stop. -jeff

I would change for running gear only if I plan to run at least 30 minutes or about 4-5 km. Usually my shortest is about 45 minutes nowadays and often 1 hour a day is the norm. I find running only 1 mile is not enough to make a sweat, it’s just not worth it to do so. I could do something at home on my fitness machine which gives me much more intense workout. wasantr

For me, one mile is enough for a streak. It’s a run, so I would include it. Also does/should time on a treadmill count as a run?
I count it, because for me it’s harder than running on the road. None of this amounts to much of anything as I will probably keep on doing it my way 30/3 but I was wondering what others might think about all this foolishness.
Good idea! Troy
