It depends on a lot of things. Where is it? What mods (if any) does it have? How do you define excellent condition? In other words, are the mechanicals good, is the body good, how much rust is there, or is it over-all show quality? Which Willys is it? CJ-5? CJ-3B? As a data point, I bought a 61 CJ5 about 2 1/2 years ago here in Tucson. It has an early-60s Chevy 283 dropped in, mated to the original running gear. 33-inch Armstrong tires were on it. It has a roll bar. It had aftermarket seats (worn out, though). It has a passenger-side, customized under-seat gas tank to match the OEM one on the driver’s side. It has a PTO winch on it. A steering conversion of some kind was done; I haven’t been able to identify the steering box yet. The body is basically sound, but it has some Bondo here and there, a coupla welds holding some stuff together, and some rusted-through spots in the floorboards – somebody Pop-riveted a piece of sheet metal over the worst holes on the driver’s side. It had a soft top on it (stitching wearing out),as well as a tonneau cover for the back, a bikini top, and half doors. It came with the factory rear seat (!). Some extra gauges were added (oil pressure, coolant temp, ammeter) as well as a tiltmeter. It has an extended-shackle lift. Someone had added seat belts for the front seats. I paid $3900 for it. IMO, that was too much when you look at it rationally, but when I saw the beast my rationality went right out the window.
YMMV. Hope this helps. Gonzo(who never does anything rationally if he can help it) — * Dave Peterson | Independent Amway Distributor * * | Oh No!!! It’s Working!!!!! * * Off-Highway Fanatic (GONZO) | — Ray Youngblood * * 1961 Jeep CJ5 (Az lic GRNT WK) | *
