The first thing that goes is your memory….
Question:
There I was, sitting in my office Friday afternoon. I had spent a stressful week coordinating a conference of fellow park superintendents. In the week before the conference no less than 3 speakers had cancelled and the Regional Director changed the day he was coming at the last minute. But that was all over. I had completed a perfect week-long taper and was really anticipating the five mile race (a warm-up) that night and then the Olympic distance tri Sunday. ESM’s Jekyll Island weekend of races was here. The phone rang and it was the prez of the running club. After attending to business I asked him if he was running tonight. "A training run?" He asked. "No, the 5 miler on Jekyll Island." <Long pause "Isn’t that next week?" Aaaarrrggghhhh. Response:
The second thing you lose is your memory, but that’s O.K. because most people can’t remember the first thing that goes.
