Runners Knee-How to fix???

Categories: nike running

Question:

Your ankles may be wobbling too much. Make sure you have the proper width sole. A running store can help you.

Response:

We are the sole manufacturer of the Orbiter Treadmill. It is a treadmill, but the surface is a trampoline. This allows the surface to take the impact of walking or running, not your joints. The Orbiter has been widely used by professional athletes, rehab centers, sports medicine physicians and individuals for years. We are right in the middle of ramping up production, and for the first time since inception, we have caught up with demand. In fact we have two machines available, now. We will have another 14 within the next few weeks. We are beginning to develop the official web site for the Orbiter Treadmill. Since we’ve always had a backorder situation, we have spent only minimal dollars on marketing.  There is an UNOFFICIAL web site that can provide photos, testimonials, and additional information about the Orbiter, however it is not a factory authorized website. For informational purposes only:    www.orbitertreadmill.com All orders and inquiries can be made directly with the manufacturer, through the following address: The Orbiter starts at $7,950. With the Polar Heart Rate Monitor adds $300, and the "Reverse" option is an additional $300. Shipping and installation, by our own factory trained technicians, is additional and will be quoted by location. Orders will be taken on a first come – first served basis. Thanks, Tim Johnson – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – What I was told by DRs and physical therapists was that, while I had strong quads and hams, I had a severe imbalance between them. In other words, my hams were not nearly as strong as they needed to be in relation to the strength of the quads. This discrepency was creating forces pulling my kneecap out of its proper alignment. I was also not nearly loose enough in my hamstrings. So I did strengthening excersices to focus on the hams and a lot of stretching of the hams. It has seemed to work. I get minor flare ups now and then, but nothing the way it was. Paul I was about to write that strong muscles somewhere means weaker ones somewhere else, but your Dr picked up on that. No matter if it’s running or gym work, the way to a perfect body is find your weaknesses, like a certain lift that seems especially difficult, and work twice as hard on that lift than others, and as that changes with time alter your workouts to reflect the change, always working the parts that need it most a little extra. STOP RUNNING!  It will never go away, and will certainly get worse, if you keep running on it.  Take a week or two off; It’s not going to kill you. I had the same kind of symptoms. I am a life long runner who was described as having strong hams and quads. I too had moderate pain, especially when kneeling and going up/down stairs. What I was told by DRs and physical therapists was that, while I had strong quads and hams, I had a severe imbalance between them. In other words, my hams were not nearly as strong as they needed to be in relation to the strength of the quads. This discrepency was creating forces pulling my kneecap out of its proper alignment. Prior running history would have been helpful, and current (or before cut back) mileage. However, from personal experience I can say that for me finding the right kind of shoes was the most important thing, and professional help was needed for choosing the *perfect* shoes for me. Go to a good running store is you have any doubts about your shoes. I tried my old shoes (Nike Air Terras) just yeasterday in order to compare them to my current New Balance 1021 shoes, and I was amazed how different they felt – especially the amount of cushioning in my old shoes was ridiculous, I felt like running bare footed :o ) But at the time when those were the only shoes I had they felt OK – didn’t no of anything better. Oz et alii will fill in the more physiological factors I’m sure, but I strongly recommend evaluating your footwear. Good luck! Jarno
