Sometimes you just have to try your luck with another shoe. I had a brilliant pair of Nike Air Pegasus that lasted me for darn near 4 years. So I go back to buy an identical pair, and the model is still available, but it’s not identical because they switched factories or something. The second set of Pegasus fray like mad immediately and I have other problems with them, namely they were no good anymore. Saucony was the next pair I was happy with, a set of Grid Jazz (wide) but I was unable to find another pair of Saucony like those, so I bought Asics, which have been just okay. I intend to drag that ragged first pair of Saucony out of the closet for the Richmond Marathon in November, pass the shoe goo! It is possible to buy a pair of shoes and really test them on an indoor track for 5 miles or whatever, then take them back if they don’t work for you. I don’t think that’s dishonest or discourteous to the store really. So try some different models, you’ve exhausted your brand loyalty to Saucony already. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -How about it? I have always purchased the Hurricane model ever since they appeared, and when I had a pair wear out after 250 miles I decided to try the Dixon and Omni  models only to have them also wear unevenly. I went back to the Hurricane ‘99 model and after less than 200 miles they have worn out the center heal exposing the GRID cartridge and emitting a whiff of air with every footfall. I have also noted that the heel collapses much easier with air rushing out. This is not a healthy thing for my feet. So I will try to get a warranty replacement pair. So my question is this. Is anybody else experiencing problems with the quality of Saucony shoes? The rubber seems to wear out faster. I wish I could say I was to blame, but my running style has not changed substantially. I run about 35-45 miles a week. I have worn out this last pair before they even got dirty. I’m baffled. I love the cushion and stability but at the current price of around a hundred bucks. I’m going to have to carry a sign down on the street corner saying " Will work for Sauconys’ " Any suggestions, comments or donations gladly accepted. I’m a Nike man myself, but my mom wears Saucony’s (hurricane model i believe) and she doesn’t seem to have any problem with them.  Your running hasn’t changed in mileage, but have you switched surfaces (grass to cement or the other way around) or maybe your stride itself has changed.  In any case, I’d take the shoes back.  If you’re nice about it most shoe stores will exchange the shoes for a new pair free of charge if you feel they wear out too quickly – it’s not like they have to pay for them or anything, Saucony will pick up the bill. -jeff
