i like both the cumulus and nimbus in the cold it take time for both gels to warm up / until then the gels are hard plodzilla – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Donovan said: << I have a pair of Asics Nimbus, Asics Cumulus, Asics Tiger Paw, Asics DS Racers, and Asics Verdict shoes. what’s the difference between Nimbae and Cumulus? also, when do you wear each?  i have been further experimenting w the Nimbae. while the cushiness is truely a treat for legs, i find that i loose sense of foot contact/articulation, and thusly, my overall form deteriorates.                    - –  //                      oooO   (    )                       (     )     )  /                          (     (_

The Nimbus has more motion control features than the cumulus, which is welcome if you need them and unwelcome if you don’t. I never wore the Cumulus until I already had many years of running under my belt, but in coming to them as an experienced runner I don’t share your experience about "deteriorating form."  If I were a relative newbie, I suppose I might prefer something a little less "squishy," but I must say that at age 45 I like this shoe a lot.  Granted that you don’t feel the road like you do in track shoes, but that’s sort of the point, isn’t it, if you intend to put in a LOT of miles?

What’s wrong w/buying two pairs of shoes per year?

Nothing, but why do it if you don’t have to?

Response:

History means little in this discussion. The real problem with nikes is they are made all over at various sweat shops, and the consistency is just not there.

You couldn’t beat a Reebok GL1600 or an Adidas 500 (better than the 600)….they started making them for fashion first, and secondary came comfort for the endurance and long distance runner…Adidas web was comfy.. All the designer dudes tho’ went for a completely non athletic trainer called the adidas ‘gazelle’, and it was this that made adidas concern their focus on ‘running’ as a different option…

The best I’ve gotten 600 out of a pair of Saucony Trigons, but I wasn’t game to push my luck further after the tread had worn through (though they still felt OK) Cheers, Donovan, The idiot is wearing NIKES, so of course he goes through 2,3, or 4 pairs a year. He continually rants how great they are, but has to buy 2 or 3 pairs a year? LOLOL. Gee, I’m on year 3 of my older Asics, and they are still great off road, and my newest ones are over a year now at 9 miles a day, with NO SIGNS OF WEAR on them. And to think I pay a 1/3 to 1/2 less too?  Not just that, but notice how he skirts the mileage question? I’m betting if he did more than 3 miles his ankles would break. The more he posts, the more we know he’s just a troll, or just a fool.
