A New One….
Question:
: Hey – who are you calling old?
I never thought at age 32 that I would be : "too damn old." But yes, I do remember the days of turntables, and : black-and-white tv sets, and before there was such a thing as a Video store… Bah. I’m 21 and I know all about turntables and black and white TV’s. See, I have this affliction called "being poor" I used to have an 8-track when I was little *shudder* I also spent many a night watching the Honeymooners and Burns and Allen on my shitty little B&W TV I bought from a garage sale for 10 bucks. Age has nothing to do with it, it’s all financial. Dan — danshea

I heard today from some non-runners that running can’t be good because it jars around your internal organs. I never heard that one before. :) GK
Well, yes. It’s true. And the only way to undo the harm from the jiggling is to stand on your head for a half-hour after your run with the 1812 Overture is playing on your Walkman. I thought everybody knew this… Mike "TriBop" Tennent http://www.gate.net/~wbrunner/ WebRunner Running My Model Railroad ‘98 Ironman Canada IronVirgins Site

Shouldn’t you play the 1812 Overture *backwards* in order to undo the harm? GK Gary W. Kopycinski Ecclesia Semper Reformanda! http://homepage.interaccess.com/~frodojrr Team OS/2! Shire Enterprises FAX * (708) 755-0915 * Bart’s Blackboard (8F18) : "My name is not Dr. Death"

I heard today from some non-runners that running can’t be good because it jars around your internal organs.
While growing up in Texas, I once pointed out to my dad (a physician) one good ‘ol boy who had an incredibly large "beer gut" protruding out over his belt. He responded, "That’s not a beer gut – that guy is a ‘dozer operator." It seems that when employed in brush-clearing and earth-moving operations in open range land, bull-dozers are a very rough ride. The drivers are harshly and constantly jolted along the vertical axis. Because they are in a sitting position, with their abdominal muscles relaxed, the proper support for their internal organs is lacking. Over the years this causes the contents of the peritoneal cavity to kind of come loose and slide down and out over their belts, leading to a number of medical problems. Since runners are not known for having "beer guts" I don’t think this is something we need to worry ourselves about. Owen McCall
