Need new running shoe

Categories: nike running shoes

Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello there, I am currently in the market for a new running shoe; I have been running about 3-5 miles a day in my ‘95 Nike Air Max’s for the past two years mostly on pavement/asphalt.  (mostly for cardiovascular fitness)  I don’t have any arch problems, or problems with pronation, and I just need some new running shoes that offer cushioning, support, and snug fit.  I do notice that my current shoes (the Nikes) tend to be a little loose in front… I have seen several ads for the new Reebok DMX; is this a good technology? Are the DMX line of shoes everything they claim to be?  What other shoes might fit my criteria? Albert P.S.  If there is another newsgroup where shoe opinions should be posted, then I apologize for this post.

I would recommend that you visit a running store where you would get sound [hopefully] advice, and the right shoe for your feet. There are far too many shoes and manufacturers that would meet your need. For a general idea, you can check out the runners world shoe section under: http://www.runnersworld.com, where they have categorized shoes. For stores in the Evanston area, check out Murphy’s Fit on Dempster or Runners’ Edge on Wilmette Ave. [just West off Greenbay Road]. A better option would be "Vertels" on North Clybourn – couple of "el" stops heading South from Belmont] or "Fleet Feet" [North Ave. I think] in downtown. -suku. — N. They are good if you are a biomechanically gifted runner and you like a shoe with a lot of cushioning (or so I’ve read). If you need a shoe with more stability or motion control, stay away from this one.    -Phil
