Question:
I just finished the London marathon, on average 30mpw during the last 6 months with one long run of 18miles and 2 10 mile runs in the last two weeks before marathon. I averaged 9 min/mi and was looking good for a 4hr marathon until I reached mile 21, and was [...]

Question:
"Carbing up" in reference to cardio, is generally for those people who are running a grotesque amount (5+) miles, marathon running.  For the typical person on this newsgroup who walks 2 miles or around their block it is not a neccessity nor would I recommend it. It is great that you [...]

Question:
Dear Jennifer, I’d like to focus on 1500m/1600m, just because I think you can only do a few things really well, and I’d like to do this well if I’m going to spend so much time doing it.  800m seems too short to me.  I am really good at pushing myself [...]

I [...]

Question:
Hello Caleb, Gee, Carmen — I don’t think that much! And frankly, I wouldn’t lie, wouldn’t do things unethical, etc. Interesting view, though. I sure can imagine psychologists doing something like this, especially before the Zimbardo studies came out of Stanford (prison experiment) and the [...]

Question:
Marathon training is 4 miles three times a week with 0 miles three times a week, then a long one on the weekends. Sounds kind of lay back to me. A good training for health would be 5 miles per day, six days per week. This sounds like a more healthy way [...]

Question:
The story does come with a caveat though:
It’s just another story of someone who went out to run a marathon without proper training, and then acts surprised it was painful. The marathon was the easiest race I ever ran in terms of pain it caused me. Bill R.

Response:
My point was, [...]
