Unusual Shoe wear
Question:
Are you underpronating/supinating on the left side? If you’re not having any pain or discomfort, I’d suggest using Shoe Goo to build up that corner a bit as it wears down and not worry about it.
Response:
Yup! You like me..we hit with our heel and then roll…you probably roll better off the toe than I. I am a pronator like you but I roll more off the inside and I get a wear patter there..I have Brooks Beast (light person running in heavy shoes) and you can start to see the wear pattern off the heel, but the toe does not show it very much..some shoes have lighter rubber..recently read of one of the Brooks (the Truth comes to mind) which states that it has Indy 500 rubber…is that impressive or what! I recently just got ASIC MC Plus..another heavy shoe for a light one to run in..but what the heck, the knee no longer compains and I can get the miles in… keep up with the running…runner at heart

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello all, I hope some wise soul (sole?) can give me some information about something I seem to experience periodically. I’ve noticed a highly unusual (at least I *think* it’s unusual) wear pattern on the soles of my running shoes. First of all, let me say that I have a relatively normal arch and am a moderate over-pronator. I’m currently training for my second try at the City of Pittsburgh Marathon in May (I had to drop out last year after 20 miles due to tendonitis in my Achilles tendon–hence my sig file). I’m running on Etonic StableAir shoes which have about 200-300 miles on them. I’ve developed severe wear on the outside of the left heel. So much so that the black rubber sole is almost completely worn down. There is no other significant wear anywhere else nor is there similar wear on the right heel. Has anyone experienced anything like this? If so, is there anything I can do to correct it? Most everyone wears out the heel (lateral) faster than the rest. The outsole is carbon and not blown rubber in the the forfoot of the Etonic, so it wont show much up front. Why are you concerned about the wear? Are you experiencing bio mechanic problems? Larry
I quite agree with larry, I have tried most shoes and have stuck with Brooks, but I always have to re-heel after about 200 miles. The only thing that might be unusal is that Dave said that the left heel was badly worn, is the right heel the same???, if not is this a different wear pattern from the other shoes you have had???. My running style/Gait is not unusual and I dont pronate and the rest of my shoes show normal wear pattern. I believe that most running shoes dont last around the heel area unless you happen to be a forefoot striker. — Chris Burke Yaxley Runners & Joggers,Peterborough,England.
