I have a problem which has almost caused me to give up running.  It seems that my index toe on my right foot gets bruised, the toenail eventually turns black, and then the toenail falls off.  Naturally, this is a little disconcerting.  The problem hasn’t always existed.  I suspect that my shoes are either too small or are not wide enough.  Another possibility is that my gait may have changed. I used to wear the Etonic Maestro and the Phaeton shoes when they were still available.  I then switched to the Nike Air Pegasus and began to have the problems that I described.  Switching to the Asics Gel 120 hasn’t helped either.   Has anyone had this problem?  What, if anything, is the solution?  Please you for your help.
