Why white runningshoes?

Categories: asics running shoes

Question:

Why are all new runningshoes in white colour? They look really ugly after a few kilometers. I WANT BLACK SHOES! / Eva

Response:

It’s a psychological thing – look down at black shoes and you see heavy and slow – look down at a pair of white shoes and see sleek, fast and light weight! -Darrin

| Why are all new runningshoes in white colour? | They look really ugly after a few kilometers. | I WANT BLACK SHOES! I can’t quote the source but as I recall, a large percentage of people that by running shoes do not run or fast walk. They buy them for looks, comfort, etc.  I’m suggesting that a practical look, cleanliness, is not important to most. How often do people try on shoes, find two pairs that feel good, and buy the pair that "looks" the spiffiest. In addition, I would suspect that black shoes would not sell well and $$$$ is the bottom line to the manufacturer. Personally I like the white base with blues, browns etc, added for effect. If you want black shoes you may have to run in  basketball shoes. :)  Another alternative is trail shoes – some models come in brown and black. I guess to hide the trial dirt. — Doug Freese  All opinions are mine. IBM Tele: 8-293-8098

yes.  but do you think it’s a reason for white running shoes?         do they only play football in cold countries?  (football boots –         apart from the occasional asics pair – seem to be black).         incidentally, i heard that women in some middle eastern countries         who wear black remain cool because it creates convection         currents in loose clothing.  but them someone else said it was         a custom to stop them from going outside too much.  i don’t         know who was right.         anyway – for the original poster – i guess you could use boring         new balance grey….         andrew —            work phone/fax: 0131 668 8356, office: 0131 668 8357     institute for astronomy, royal observatory, blackford hill, edinburgh                      http://www.roe.ac.uk/ajcwww
